It all began with an accident and soon became a fevered obsession.
While on vacation in the French Riviera in the 1920s, fashion creator and revered icon, Coco Chanel, got sunburnt. From that accidental occurrence, a frenzy for the tanned look was born.
The sunkissed summer look need not be a painful sunburn experience though. Now you can have the look anytime of the year with an organic spray tan!
What creates the sunkissed look?
DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is a colourless sugar, usually derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane. This ingredient is key in making the self tanning process happen. The best way to explain how the tanning process works is by using the example of a cut apple slice. Once that slice is exposed to the air, it begins to brown.
What do I need to do before the organic spray tan?
To get the most out of your spray tanning experience, Allegra recommends that you remove hair; exfoliate and moisturize your skin as this will enhance and maintain the tan.
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment to prevent the fabric from rubbing the solution off prior to it setting.
What do I need to after the organic spray tan?
Allegra suggests that you wait at least 6 to 8 hours before showering.
And always protect your skin! Please take proper precaution when outdoors by wearing sun protection.
How long does an organic spray tan last?
Usually the organic spray tan lasts 7 to 10 days. As dead skin cells slough off, the tan begins to fade. Allegra recommends that you keep your skin thoroughly moisturized as this will enhance and maintain the tan.
